Confused about your BMW? Don't buy until you read this.
The #1 mistake when buying a BMW screen: Relying solely on the car's year.
BMW often mixes systems during transition years (2009, 2012, 2016). If you buy the wrong screen, the LVDS connector won't fit, and you will get no image. Use this visual guide to identify if you have CCC, CIC, NBT, or EVO in less than 1 minute.
Quick Visual Identification
Look at your current original screen menu and compare it with the photos below:
How to spot it: This is the oldest system with a color screen. The main menu usually has a brown or grayish background. The options are arranged in a list or a cross pattern.
How to spot it: A major leap in quality. The menus are more colorful and sharper. The active selection usually has a bright red or orange border. The video cable connector changes radically here.
How to spot it: A very modern interface with smooth transitions and transparencies. This is the most common system in the F-Series. At first glance, it looks like CIC, but the connector is different (different notch).
How to spot it: Switches from lists to large, horizontal "Tiles" that move. Very common in late F-Series and early G-Series models.
⚠️ WARNING: Even though the connector looks like NBT, the voltage is different. If you plug an NBT screen into an EVO unit, you will get "No Signal".
